Qantas
Defence Services (QDS) brings together all
defence related maintenance, repair and overhaul activities carried out
by Qantas and continues the long history of Qantas successfully
supporting the Australian Defence Forces. At the Richmond RAAF Base in
New South Wales, Qantas Defence Services is currently using FileMaker
Pro 9 as its principle database management tool to manage a fleet of 24
C130 Hercules transport aircraft through their deep maintenance cycle.
FileMaker
Pro 9 works as one of the elements of
the company's broader sophisticated aircraft maintenance management
system-VIPER-developed by Fallon Project Management. VIPER integrates
the prudential processes needed to ensure every aircraft servicing is
100% complete with an effective scheduling and management control
system built around the integrated ACOS +1 project management tool.
Gerry
Roberts, Business Unit Manager - C130 Program
Manager, Qantas Defence Services commented, "The most recent version of
VIPER has delivered a key benefit with the creation of an Earned Value
Management Tool; made possible by the closely coupled FileMaker
database and the project management component: ACOS, developed by
German company Thekrasoft GmbH. This is unique in Australia and allows
us to control our costs and schedule accurately, confident that we have
an objective measure of actual work achieved based on the integration
of cost, schedule, technology and performance."
