PMI's CAPM Credential - Training Objectives |
|
Mosaic's CAPM exam prep courses start from $880 for our Mentored Email™ course, and are focused on achieving a first time pass. The examination for PMI's CAPM credential focuses on the PMBOK Guide 3rd Edition®. Our CAPM exam prep courses cover the full spectrum of learning needed to succeed in the exam based on a detailed understanding of the PMBOK and the interpretation of its processes preferred by PMI. The key difference between our courses is the method of delivery and the way we engage with you as a trainee, not the course content.
Mosaic's CAPM courses are pre-approved by PMI as delivering appropriate course contents and 23 Hrs of training.
Students will acquire the necessary knowledge and understanding required to successfully pass their CAPM PMI examination.
Mosaic's courses are specifically designed to equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to pass a difficult, multi-choice examination, most people also acquire significant useful project management knowledge to apply in the workplace. The course framework is based on the PMBOK Guide*.
* Note: There are a number of errors in the PMBOK that have been corrected. Download Errata sheets for the PMBOK Guide 3rd Edition [ Sheet 1 ] + [ Sheet 2 ] To see which sheets you need [ click here ]
The course will:
The CAPM exam is focused on the PMBOK Guide. It consists of 150 questions made up of 135 'scored' questions and 15 pre-test questions. The pre-test questions are scattered randomly throughout the exam and do not influence your score (they are there to validate the question for use in future exams). However, you have no way of knowing which questions are pre-test and which are 'scored' and need to deal with all 150 questions in the same way! The pass mark is 65%, this is an overall score from the 135 'scored' questions (88 correct) there are no minimum requirements in each section. [ See more on PMI's Examination setting methodology ]

CAPM Application Requirements |
A summary of the requirements for admission to the CAPM examination is set out below, the full requirements are set out in the PMI Certification Handbooks.
A CAPM candidate is required to have completed either 1,500 hours of experience working on a project management team - OR - 23 contact hours of formal project management training (completing one of Mosaic's CAPM courses will satisfy the training requirements). Potential candidates must also agree to abide by the PMI Code of Ethics [ View PMI Code of Ethics ]
The supporting documentation required by a candidate to apply for any examination is:
PMI reviews and/or audits all Certification applications. During the audit process, PMI requires formal verification of all information you have provided, by your employer(s) and schools. This is a very formal process designed to maintain quality in the Certification Program. If incorrect information is found during the audit process, you will have your Certification or eligibility revoked.
CAPM training courses offered by Mosaic and other R.E.P.s [ see more on PMI Registered Education Providers] are pre-approved by PMI for the designated Contact Hours in fulfilment of your CAPM eligibility requirements. The eligibility of contact hours from other training sources are the responsibility of the CAPM candidate and will be determined on a case-by-case basis through the application audit process.
If you are not a PMI member and intend joining; complete your PMI application first, then apply for the CAPM exam
Applications for the CAPM examination should be made ‘on-line’ via the PMI web site at http://www.pmi.org and follow the links to "Obtaining a Credential" under the "Career Development" menu -RECOMMENDED - or via the paper based application included in the CAPM handbook.
We've found that when people file their applications on-line, their applications are processed almost immediately, and both the candidate and the Prometric Test Centre (the organization that administers the CAPM exam) receives their eligibility number within 48 to 72 hours (PMI guarantee a 5 day maximum turnround). Paper based applications are much slower and PMI cannot check for errors until after the application is received. The on-line system checks all of the basics before allowing you to submit your application.
All examination fees are charged in US Dollars, cheques and money orders must be payable against an American bank. All major credit cards are accepted.
| Certification Fees US$ | PMP | CAPM |
| PMI Member Rate | US$ 405.00 | US$ 225.00 |
| Non Member Rate | US$ 555.00 | US$ 300.00 |
The cost of joining PMI is US$119.00 plus US$10.00 joining fee. Therefore, joining PMI first (using the on-line registration) will save you money and you will receive all of the other benefits and discounts available to members.
For PMI Membership details go to www.pmi.org and follow the links to "membership" under the "Get Involved" menu.
Membership of PMI Components, including local Chapters, Special Interest Groups (eg The PMO-SIG or IT&T-SIG) and Colleges are an additional fee above the base membership. All Australian Chapter fees are US$50.00 per annum.
Following registration, candidates must take their examination within the twelve-month eligibility period. One extension (or a refund) is possible but costs and conditions apply, details are contained in the Certification Handbook.
After receiving your letter advising your candidate details, scheduling your Certification Examinations has Never Been Easier! All eligible Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) candidates can now quickly and easily schedule, cancel and reschedule their certification examinations online at www.2test.com. Please note it is critical that your name used in the application process exactly matches on the government issued identification that you will be presenting to access the testing center. Address variations on your government issued ID do not matter, only the name.

CAPM Renewal Process |
The certification cycle for the CAPM credential is
five years. CAPM
credential holders maintain their credential by studying the updates to
A Guide to the Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) that
have occurred over the last five years and during the fifth year of their
cycle, the CAPM credential holder moves into a renewal period of one
year in which he or she must re-take and pass the examination before
their CAPM credential expires.
The steps required to maintain your credential are:
You
must pass your examination within a 5 year period starting on the day
you passed your CAPM exam, if your CAPM credential expires, you will
lose the credential number and may not use the CAPM designation on

will go through PMI’s review process and is subject to
PMI’s audit process before becoming eligible to sit for
and pass the examination.
Renewal examination fees are charged in US Dollars, cheques and money orders must be payable against an American bank. All major credit cards are accepted.
| Certification Renewal Fees US$ | PMP | CAPM |
| PMI Member Rate | US$ 405.00 | US$ 225.00 |
| Non Member Rate | US$ 555.00 | US$ 300.00 |
Mosaic's CAPM Training Options |
|
Mosaic's self-paced Exam Prep is designed for individuals who work most effectively at their own speed. The information needed to pass your examination is provided in 12 modules for CAPM candidates.
Each module includes the delivery of reference materials, followed by test questions and feedback on the answers provided. The three components of each module are designed to work together to reinforce the student's learning. As the course progresses, questions test the student's knowledge of previous modules as well as the current one.
Regular feedback is provided to each trainee showing their overall score against each of the topics. This helps highlight areas of strength and areas needing more study. Mosaic's email based support service is available to help trainees with any questions they may have and to provide additional guidance as needed.
The course materials build into a comprehensive manual for revision and future reference. As part of the course fees, Mosaic provides a complete index system and, within Australia, binders to store the printouts from each module.
Passing your examination requires skill in answering PMI's multiple choice questions - the 300+ questions included in each course provides all of the practice needed to hone your skills and maximise you chance of success (and if 300 questions are not sufficient, we have an extra 100 question test available if needed!).
Individual students will complete the whole course using this delivery option, in their own time and at their preferred pace of working. Where groups of people can be organised (eg via a PMI Chapter or within a business), Mosaic's 'Practical' courses may be preferred.
Note:- All email courses require the trainee to have access to an email system capable of receiving 'locked' PDF and Excel files (the 'lock' prevents alterations - printing is always enabled).

Blended CAPM™
Mosaic's 'Practical' courses use a carefully structured ‘Blended’ delivery system designed to optimise classroom time and the overall learning process. Workshop days at the beginning and end of the program are complemented by a number of weekly cycles of ‘Mentored Email’™ based learning. This combination of face-to-face and self-paced learning offers the ideal combination of delivery options for mature students as well as providing a very time effective solution for busy people needing to balance career development with work pressures and a social life.
The 'Introductory Workshop' is either a full, or half day. This workshop is designed to set the scene and develop group rapport for the balance of the course. The day is used to teach some key topics that benefit from the use of a white board and face-to-face instruction including critical path analysis (CPA) and Earned Value as well as allowing the group’s mentor and trainees to get to know each other.
During the 'distance' component of the course, modules are forwarded on a weekly basis.
An email based support service is available to help trainees with any questions they may have and to provide additional guidance as needed.
The course materials build into a comprehensive manual for revision and future reference. As part of the course fees, you are provided with a complete index system and (within Australia) two binders to store the printouts from each module.
A mid course support day (3 Hrs) in included with some courses, this session helps to reinforce the group and provide a friendly place to ask questions and discuss topics of interest.
Revision and a trial examination are included in the last day. This session rounds out the course and facilitates any last questions and discussion points prior to the trainees sitting their examination. The other major advantage of the last day is to set a deadline for the completion of the self-paced component of the course, we know this helps many of our students to wrap up their learning!
Passing your examination requires skill in answering PMI's multiple choice questions - the 300+ questions included in this course provides all of the practice needed to hone your skills and maximise you chance of success (and if 300 questions are not sufficient, we have an extra 100 question tests available if needed!). Mosaic's email based support service remains available to help trainees with any last minute questions before their examination.
Note:- All email courses require the trainee to have access to an email system capable of receiving 'locked' PDF and Excel files (the 'lock' prevents alterations - printing is always enabled).

Mosaic’s
Classroom Courses.
Mosaic's 'Intensive' courses are designed for managers in a hurry -
You will undertake a complete CAPM Exam Prep course in 4 days! Courses start on Monday and finish on Thursday. There are 7 contact hours scheduled for each day (plus lunch and refreshment breaks) and additional reading is required each evening (a paper copy of the PMBOK is essential). You will be working hard, but if you can stand the pace all of the information needed to pass the CAPM examination will be yours within a week.
Each day includes a small test exam, several modules of training plus some group an individual exercises to help break up the intensity of the sessions. The final day includes a complete revision session plus a 100 question trial examination.
As part of your course, you are provided with a comprehensive manual including a complete index system. The manual is essential for revision and for future reference. The only compromise made in designing the intensive course, compared to our longer blended course, is the number of questions you will answer during the course. However, if you feel you need more practice we have an extra 100 question tests available to try as part of your pre-exam revision.
After completing this course, we recommend taking your PMI exam within the next couple of weeks for the best chance of success. Allowing a few days for revision beforehand will ensure you are ready and confident to apply all you have learnt. Our email support service will assist with any questions you may have during this period.
Our 'Classic'
course covers the same material at a more structured pace, courses
typically ran at one day per week or one day per fortnight and requires
5 days at 6 Hrs each to complete. The pace of this course allows time
for additional questions and investigation of topics of interest to the
group making it particularly suitable for 'in-house' training.
